Careers

Your licence. We help you earn it.

Big firms hire graduates into one narrow role. In a team our size you see the whole job, from cable tray to final claim, and you learn it from the people running it. The goal is for you to become a Licensed Electrical Worker.

An experienced electrician points out a test point on an isolated switchboard while a young engineer holds an insulation tester
  1. On site

Learn the work with our supervisors

Installation, testing and commissioning on live projects: condominiums, healthcare facilities, commercial buildings and rail sites.

  2. In the office

    Learn how projects are run

Progress claims, drawings, coordination with main contractors and consultants, and how jobs are priced, alongside the Managing Director.

  3. Licence

    Become our Licensed Electrical Worker

Work towards the EMA Electrical Technician licence, which lets you take charge of installations up to 500 kVA. If you perform well, we pay for your first attempt at the EN033 course and the licence application, and give you the practical experience it requires. Your first three years follow a development plan, with salary reviews at key milestones.

Questions

Common questions.

Quick answers for building managers, contractors and owners looking for an electrical contractor in Singapore.

Can you renew our EMA electrical installation licence?

Yes. Our in-house Licensed Electrical Worker can act as the LEW for your installation, handle the application or annual renewal, and carry out the required inspection and testing. Non-domestic installations above 45 kVA need this licence, and renewals should be filed at least a month before expiry.

How often must our electrical installation be inspected?

It depends on the premises. EMA requires condominiums and multi-tenanted buildings to be inspected at least once every six months, construction sites at least once a month, and most other licensed installations at least once a year. As your appointed LEW, we schedule and carry out these inspections for you.

How long is the power off when you replace a main switchboard?

Usually one night or one day, depending on the property. Residential shutdowns are scheduled on weekdays, and commercial buildings are usually done over a weekend. We can arrange a temporary generator if you need power kept on during the changeover.

Do you handle breakdowns and emergency call-outs?

Yes, for clients on a servicing contract, during office hours (Monday to Friday, 10am to 6pm).

Can you install EV chargers in our condo?

Yes. Once you have bought your chargers, we install them, from cabling to connection, and our in-house Licensed Electrical Worker tests and certifies the installation. We do not supply the chargers ourselves.

Is Seng Soon a registered electrical contractor?

Yes. We are registered with the Building and Construction Authority under workhead ME05 (Electrical Engineering) at grade L1, certified bizSAFE Star, ISO 9001:2015 and ISO 45001:2018, and have been an SMRT registered contractor since 1998.

Do you work directly with MCSTs?

Yes. We contract directly with management corporations for switchboard upgrades and other common-area works, and we have held servicing contracts with some MCSTs for more than ten years.

What size of project do you take on?

We take on everything from repairs, servicing and licence renewals to multi-million-dollar installations, anywhere in Singapore. Our largest single contract was $6 million. Most of our new-build work is as the electrical subcontractor to a main contractor or M&E firm, and we partner with other contractors on the largest developments. Every site is led by one of our own supervisors.
